DISTRIBUTING KN95-TYPE MASKS ON MARTHA'S VINEYARD
Cloth masks are easy and cheap. They are, and were a crucial step in the
management of CV. But cloth masks largely protect other people, not the
wearer; the tag line is “my mask protects you; your mask protects me.”
Unlike cloth masks, KN95, N95, and similar masks protect BOTH the wearer
AND other people. They are available to the public at large.
It is in the island’s great interest to stop the transmission of coronavirus. This is
especially true as the world is now experiencing new, more infectious, more
virulent, strains of CV.
One of the best things we can do is to ensure that everyone who faces the public
is protected—for themselves as well as for others. If we can hang on long enough to get folks vaccinated, we can get past this.
The aim is to GIVE AWAY AS MANY MASKS AS NEEDED.
Q: WILL YOU OR ANYONE INVOLVED MAKE A PROFIT?
A; No, not a dime.
If this gets really big, it is possible that we will need to hire a few folks to drive masks around and
distribute them. This will only happen if it grows.
But we won't pay ourselves, even if we do it. And we will do a lot of this on
our own, or with other volunteers.
Copies of all receipts of funds, copies of expenses, and copies of the purchase
orders for masks, will be posted online.
Q: IS THIS DONATION TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?
A: Maybe; we can't say. That's between you and your accountant.
This is NOT a 501(c)(3) charity!
However, it may be possible that this may otherwise be deductible.

As money comes in, we will buy masks and give them away. We'll post updates on the site.
