It’s giving season! 2020 has proven to be a challenging time for all of us including the functionality of Marquette West Rotary. As this holiday season approaches, with the approval of our board, we are asking for your help.
Without Harborfest this year, our club proceeds to support and donate to many of our local nonprofits is in our hands. As many of you know, during normal years, we typically raise 30-35k throughout Harborfest. 20-25k of what we raise is then sent to our Marquette West Rotary Foundation. Our Marquette West Rotary Foundation board then approves annual grant requests to local nonprofits which are in desperate need during this most difficult time.
Marquette West Rotary board is asking each member to consider making a tax deductible financial donation that was previously allocated to supporting our Harborfest. Your contribution is 100% optional, however we are hopeful for a large outpouring of support from our club. Whether your contribution was a couple of tickets to the gala, a purchase of a gala table, donation of gifts, silent auction items, we ask you to consider donating the amount that was normally spent.
These donated proceeds would then be designated to offset the revenue that was not made during Harborfest. We are hopeful that your financial generosity can help us bridge the gap to fund our local nonprofits that need our assistance more than ever before. Our community need is great and the time is now; please help us. With a little luck, I feel that our club can attain and exceed our goal of 10k. Let’s do our part in helping serve our community.
PS. Those that have attained the age of 59.5 may consider a Qualified Charitable Deduction. A QCD will minimize your tax liability from IRA distributions. Please consult your tax or financial advisor for more information.
