Marlborough: Flooded Homes and Businesses
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Kym-Marie Cleasby and I am fundraising for the residents of Marlborough who can't get flood insurance and have lost so much in the last few days. Our local residents and businesses who do so much for our local community and operate from the London Road area in Marlborough are right on the river. Locals say this is the worst flooding they have seen in 25 years. If you live or work in Marlborough you will, no doubt, know many of the amazing people that live in the affected area and lots of you will have been out volunteering and helping clean up. Thank you. But most of the businesses and residents who have lost so much cannot get flood insurance. And with climate change this situation is only going to get worse. You can see from the picture with the dog, how high up the wall the water rose. This level of damage would ruin so much on the ground floor of our homes. As a community, we can pull together and become insurance relief they cannot get. We might not achieve the replacement costs, or the repair costs these people will inevitably suffer, but we can go some way towards mitigation. Let's see what we can do when we all pull together.
