My name is Marla. I am 14 years old and I have been given a fantastic opportunity to visit Africa in summer 2026. My school and Camps International are sending students to Kenya for a month and we are to raise the cost of the trip ourselves (£5,000). I am at the beginning of this journey and I am looking into ideas of how to best raise the funds. Since signing up for the trip I have been working hard and saving the money I have earned towards the trip. Some other ideas I have so far are, cake sales, quiz nights, dog walking, car washing, babysitting, pet sitting/drop in, lawn mowing to name a few. Please, if you feel you may have a need for anything mentioned, or can offer me other fundraising ideas, or you can help me in any way, please get in touch.
On my adventure to Kenya I will be learning all about the local community, assisting with local sustainable projects, and conservation efforts in the area. I will also get the fantastic opportunity to learn how to scuba dive, go on safari, and learn key life skills, all of which will be amazing.
This is the first time I will be away from my family, and the furthest place I’ve ever been, so it is all quite nerve wracking and puts me out of my comfort zone. I am very much looking forward to all of the experiences, opportunities, life lessons, and to see how other cultures/communities live, as well as making new friends who will also be on this journey with me. If you are able to, I would very much appreciate any help, advice or donations to help me on my journey. Thank you so much for reading and I will be posting updates about how it’s going on social media, so please have a look!
Any ideas on fund raising, please get in touch with my Dad (Paul) Mum (Sam) or myself (Marla) on Facebook/Instagram. Thank you.
