Mark is able to brighten a room with his smile and finds humor in the little things. His wit and creativity shine through his artistry in his drawings and sketches. If you have ever received a birthday card, caricature, or homemade gift from him, you know the thoughtfulness and detail that is Mark! He has always been a hard working man, is very detail oriented, and prior to his car accident, he owned his own painting business. He has since finished a degree in graphic design, and he’s always been active. Among other things, Mark played football and wrestled in high school, played baseball and soft ball, ran track and in other road races, lifted weights, rode the MS 150, and played football at Coffeyville Junior College. He was always on the move. In January of 1994, Mark was in an auto accident which resulted in a spinal cord injury that changed the course of his life. Through a lot of determination and hard work, he has overcome many hurdles. And, he still faithfully exercises and maintains strength through swimming and weightlifting. He is an inspiration and much loved by so many!
Currently, he uses a wheel chair at home and a battery powered scooter when he is out and about. However, his car is not handicap accessible, and both car and scooter are old and in need of repair. Through time, and with the general challenges of movement, he has experienced wear and tear on his body, which makes getting around difficult and painful at times.
On behalf of our friend and brother, we are trying to raise funds to purchase a handicap accessible van and electric scooter. Having these newer, reliable, easy-to-maintain vehicles would bring relief to Mark and help him be able to maintain a more normal and less painful daily routine. All funds raised will be applied toward transportation expenses of any kind.
Let’s show our love and care for a great guy! Thank you for blessing him and for sharing this!
