Marissa has a brain tumour
Donation protected
Hi everyone. My granddaughter Marissa has been diagnosed with a brain tumour called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). This is an inoperable tumour in the brain stem, and does not respond to chemotherapy. The best treatment available is radiation therapy, which aims to reduce symptoms and increase survival by a few months. DIPG is a childhood cancer with a 2 year survival rate of 10% and an average generally ranging from 8 to 11 months. She is receiving treatment at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax. During radiation therapy, she will need to stay local to Halifax for 5 to 6 weeks. Her parents will stay with her, and they all may be able to travel back home some weekends during treatment. The funds from donations will help to cover associated costs with staying in Halifax for treatment and travel in the upcoming months, as well as any upcoming expenses in general for anything Marissa needs while at home. The family would like to donate any unused remaining funds to programs at the IWK to help people who find themselves in a similar situation in the future. ❤️❤️ ❤️Thanking you all in advance for your prayers and support to this loving family ❤️
