Mariposas Rebeldes is a food and agriculture collective on Muscogee (Creek) Territory, in so-called Atlanta. We are currently searching for land to establish a community gardening space and outdoor kitchen.
Mariposas Rebeldes is fundamentally opposed to hierarchy between its participants and seeks to establish an egalitarian model of community gardening. Here, a diverse Latinx community intersected with Black, Trans, Queer, and Indigenous identities is growing much-needed food and medicine, sharing skills and material resources, and organizing around each member’s interests and pressing needs. We reject the contemporary model of charity and believe that everyone involved in this project should be empowered to lead.
After being displaced from our original garden, we've been organizing virtually and hosting workshops. We've been going to markets across Atlanta selling tempeh as Mariposnax and building community. This year, we hope to start more gardens with your help!
Your donation will go towards the day-to-day costs of running our operation. This includes buying equipment for our gardens, buying ingredients for Mariposnax, and putting on workshops and events. We also hope to buy land soon with the help of our 25k matching grant from A Well Fed World.
Thanks again for your support!
If you can't donate, please spread through your networks, follow us on social media, and get the word out.
