Marina's Adoption by Katerina Kern

Three years ago, my amazing sister Katie moved to Uganda to teach high school girls.  A year ago, she met a little girl named Marina, and has since felt called to adopt her. She is now asking for your help as she moves forward with the process.

Marina's biological parents were unable to care for her, and left her with an extended relative who cared for her until she went to school. She is now 4 years old and has found security and love in a temporary foster home, but needs a permanent place to call home and a permanent person to call hers.

Katie has fallen completely in love with her, like everyone who meets her, and so desires to give her the stability of a lifelong home and family every child should have.

With Christmas approaching, I'm reminded of a time when we were little that Katie sang me Christmas carols because I couldn't fall asleep on Christmas Eve. She was the first to change our little brother's diaper, and she used to sew clothes for her dolls. She's been serving others her entire life, she blesses everyone she meets, and just as she is the most incredible sister, so too will she be the most incredible mother.

She moved to Uganda without raising any funds or asking for any help, and now she needs the support of others. In order to adopt Marina, Katie will have to pay $40,000 in both American and Ugandan court and lawyer fees.
