Marica Fest es el primer festival multicultural y autogestivo en México creado por personas LGBTIQ+ para todxs. El festival es gratuito y se lleva a cabo en el espacio público con el objetivo de alcanzar una mayor visibilidad y participación.

¿Porqué es importante en nuestro contexto?

El MARICA Fest es un festival descentralizado creado por DIVERSX un Laboratorio Cultural Disidente, cuya labor principal ha sido la defensa de derechos LGBTIQ+ desde el artivismo. Sucede en Aguascalientes, uno de los tantos estados conservadores en México, por lo que el festival es una propuesta disruptiva que combate estigmas y prejuicios sobre la población LGBTIQ+ y resignifica la palabra MARICA en el espacio público.

Antes del MARICA Fest estos espacios artísticos y culturales para la difusión y visibilización de artistas LGBTIQ+ no existían en Aguascalientes, por lo que nos hemos caracterizado en ser una plataforma de promoción y proyección de artistas emergentes tanto locales como nacionales. Además de celebrar por 3 días a la disidencia recibir a mas de 30 artistas y compartir con más de 200 personas, conmemoramos los inicios del movimiento LGBTIQ+ en Aguascalientes en el año 2000 para reapropiamos de nuestra historia y nuestro territorio, tomando una postura critica y de denuncia frente a las violencias que atravesamos como personas de la población LGBTIQ+

¿Quiénes se benefician de este trabajo?

Este año vamos por la 7ta edición del MARICA Fest -el cual se llevará a cabo los días 23, 24 y 25 de agosto del 2024- con una proyección de 200 participantes, beneficiando a la población LGBTIQ+, artistas locales y nacionales e impactando en una población más amplia al suceder en un espacio público en Aguascalientes. ¡Necesitamos de tu ayuda para que esto suceda! Cualquier donación nos acercará un paso más en nuestra lucha por la equidad y la garantía de nuestros derechos.

¿Para qué usaríamos los fondos?

Durante todos los años el MARICA FEST ha sido organizado por el equipo central de Diversx y el trabajo voluntario de lxs artistas y lxs colaboradores.

Para esta 7ta. Edición necesitamos los fondos para:

1. Registrar el MARICA Fest frente al Instituto Mexicano de la Propiedad Industrial para proteger los derechos morales y patrimoniales del festival.

2 Compensación para lxs artistas por su talento.

3. Gastos de transporte para artistas para llegar y estar en el festival.

4. Catering de comité organizador y artistas por 3 días.

5. Equipo de sonido (necesitamos buen sonido para el espacio público).

Apoya y co-crea el cambio social en el mundo:

$100 Ayudas al comité organizador a mantener el espíritu.

$200 Nos apoyas a crear conciencia y mantener nuestra lucha por equidad y derechos para la población LGBTQI+

$300 Nos apoyas con una comida del día.

$500 Apoya a unx artista marica independiente con su transporte para llegar al festival.

Si vives en Aguascalientes también te entregaremos el cartel del festival creado por le artista visual Gato que pinta y stickers del festival.

What is the Marica Fest?

This is the first multicultural and grassroot organized festival in Mexico, created by LGBTIQ+ people for everyone. The event it’s free and held in the public space with the aim to reach wider visibility and participation.

Why is it relevant for our context?

The MARICA Fest is a decentralized festival created by DIVERSX, a Dissident Cultural Laboratory, whose aim it's the defense of LGBTIQ+ rights through Artivism. It takes place in Aguascalientes, one of the many very conservative states in Mexico, so the festival is a disruptive proposal that combats stigmas and prejudices about the LGBTIQ+ population and resignifies the word MARICA in public space.

Before MARICA Fest, these artistic and cultural spaces for the dissemination and visibility of LGBTIQ+ artists did not exist in Aguascalientes, during the last years we have positioned ourselves as a platform for the promotion and projection of emerging artists, both local and national. In addition to celebrating dissidence for 3 days through hosting more than 30 artists, and sharing with over 200 people, we want to commemorate the beginnings of the LGBTIQ+ movement in Aguascalientes in the year 2000, reclaiming our history and our own territory, taking a critical stance and denouncing the violence we face as LGBTIQ+ individuals.

Who benefits from this work?

This year we are going for the 7th edition of MARICA Fest -which will take place on August 23, 24 and 25, 2024- with a projection of 200 participants, benefiting the LGBTIQ+ population, the local and national artists, and impacting a wider population by happening in the public space in Aguascalientes. We need your support to make it happen!!!! Any donation will bring us one step closer in our fight for equality and the warranty or our rights!

How would the funds be used?

Every year, MARICA Fest is co-created by the self-organized central team of Diversx and the voluntary work of artists and collaborators.

For this 7th Edition we need the funds for:

1. Register MARICA FEST with the to the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property to protect the moral and patrimonial rights of the festival.

2. Payment for the artists work.

3. Inter-state and local transportation expenses for artists to arrive and be at the festival.

4. Catering service for the organizing committee and artists for the 3 days.

5. Sound equipment (we need good equipment for public space).
