Marian’s VIRTUAL 5k event started as a way to bring together our locations across the US during COVID. It was a new way to reconnect with our co-workers (over Zoom) as many had been working from home for months.
With many requests to make the 5K an annual event and COVID still not behind us, we returned for our 2nd year. New this year, Marian Milwaukee President Dan Hurrle presented a challenge: for each participant across the country that beat his 5K time, he would donate $25 to the Hunger Task Force – a local food pantry in Milwaukee, WI. This little challenge and fundraising efforts by Marian Milwaukee resulted in more than $9,000 in donations!
For this year’s 5K, each of our US locations set a fundraising goal of $10,000 and was asked to choose a charity to donate their funds. On top of the money each site raises for its chosen charity, Marian Indianapolis (headquarters) has promised to match any donations (up to $10,000) toward each location’s charity, as inspired by Dan's original challenge.
So friends, family, and neighbors, we’d appreciate your support in meeting our goal of $10,000! Your donations are being matched dollar for dollar, and ALL proceeds will go directly to The American Red Cross for Hurricane Ian relief. Thank you so much for your support and for helping us do our part to help those in need!
