Maria needs a powered wheelchair

Hello friends,

I met Maria this morning as I was dropping Miles off at school. She was pushing her manual wheelchair across a busy street to get to a bus stop. I was impressed by her strength, but I also thought it must be exhausting to use her arms and shoulders to move around all the time. I could imagine it would cause significant wear and tear on her shoulders.

I stopped to talk to Maria and asked if she would be interested in having a powered wheelchair. She said yes, so I am asking for your help to get her a power assist system. The Companion Plus will allow her to attach her wheelchair to a hand-held scooter, allowing her the freedom to move around independently. I think it is a pretty cool system! I couldn't speak Spanish, so our conversation was limited, but from what I gathered, she lives quite a distance from the bus stop, and a motorized system would help her significantly.
