Maria was forced to flee her country of origin when she was heavily pregnant. She gave birth prematurely and had to leave her baby in order to make the 7 month overland journey to the UK to claim asylum. She last saw her baby at 6 days old and is about to be reunited with her 18 months later (after what has been a very testing period of time claiming asylum, DNA testing and finally claiming reunification). She is imminently due to be reunited with her young daughter but has nothing for her.
