It’s with great sadness I have to update everyone with the terrible news of Mari's passing last night. I thought her family had more time with her. $1200 of money raised so far has been transferred to Bale and family to pay for Mari's funeral costs. All further donations will go towards helping Bale and their 5 kids navigate a world without Mari.
Mari is the lifeline and the backbone of spiralocks in Fiji and now she and her family need our support more than ever.
Mari went into hospital 2 weeks ago with trouble breathing. Today I found out from her devastated husband Bale, that cancer has covered all over her lungs and they no longer function properly and she will need oxygen tanks to continue to breathe. Bale who is disabled from a stroke he suffered 20 years ago struggles to move around without a wheelchair. Mari is his carer. Bale is totally in shock and heartbroken and needs support to buy the oxygen tank, medical equipment and to find a rental near the hospital to make life as comfortable as possible.
Mari and Bale have been with spiralocks for almost 10 years. Bale is very talented and makes all the dreadpets and scrunchies. Mari is the backbone of the entire Fiji project. Mari does all the posting, deals with all the customs, deals with all the local council regulations to run a business between Australia and Fiji. She never complains. Never asks for more than she needs. Always puts everyone else before herself. Always wears a smile. Always goes above and beyond to keep spiralocks functioning in Fiji.
I am doing all I can personally to help Mari and Bale in this desperate time of heartbreak, but I'm now reaching out to all my loyal and long-term customers who want to help take a small burden from this beautiful family who have had a life time of struggles. Bale lost his brother this year and Mari lost her brother last year and now they are facing the next trauma.
100% of all money raised will go directly to help Bale secure a rental home for Mari near the hospital for as long as she needs and to buy medical equipment and pay oxygen tank rental fees, pay for their fares to and from the hospital and assist in any other needs they desperately seek.
