Marcus Kauffman's Eagle Project---Scouts in Ham Radio
Donation protected
I'm Marcus from Troop 405, Pleasant Hill, CA.
For my Eagle Scout project, I am working with Walnut Creek CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) to get more scouts involved in Ham radio.
Ham radio, also known as amateur radio, is an alternative method of communication. CERT uses it in disaster communications, and there are many events open to scouts with licenses. These radios require FCC licenses because they are far more powerful than walkie-talkies but do not require a service fee like a cell phone. Some radios can even communicate with the International Space Station.
Funds will be used to pay for licensing fees for scouts and create radio kits that CERT can check out to new Ham radio operators,
