Justice & Support for the Family of Marcos Aguilar Rojas Indigenous Tepehuano Land Defender
On November 26, 2025, our beloved brother, father, son, and community leader Marcos Aguilar Rojas was assassinated in the communal territory of El Caracol, in the Indigenous Autonomous Tepehuano + Wixarika Community of San Lorenzo de Azqueltán, in Jalisco, Mexico.
This was a planned political execution carried out by regional land-grabbing corrupt (caciques) and protected by a system of impunity involving judicial and state actors.
Marcos was targeted because he defended his ancestral territory and refused to abandon his family or his community under threat. Marcos was a devoted son who cared for his elders, a humble and generous man who listened to Mother Earth, and a father raising five young children — including two babies — to honor and protect the land that sustains us. His children are the seeds he leaves behind. They deserve a future rooted in the land he died protecting.
Why We Are Raising Funds
All funds will be sent directly to Marcos’s family and Indigenous community in Mexico to support:
1. Immediate care for his 5 children
Food, clothing, housing, school supplies, medical needs.
2. Care for his elderly parents/family
Who depended on him for daily support.
3. Ongoing community protection
So Marcos’s murder does not become an open door for further violence.
4. Legal justice
Supporting the investigation and legal struggle against those responsible.
Marcos’s dream was autonomy, self-sufficiency, and peace: He helped build an autonomous health clinic for the community, protected the land, and dreamt of a future without violence.

We are friends, comrades, health Brigaders ( medics, doctors) who worked with with Marcos as he built a Clinic for his community , we have worked alongside the community of San Lorenzo de Azqueltán for years. We are doing this collectively to ensure support reaches his family quickly and securely.
