Marco D. Canela, 37-years old beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend to many, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Kaiser Hospital in Walnut Creek, CA, after his valiant 5 year battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Yet even through his final years after being diagnosed with cancer, Marco still gave his life to rehabbing patients for over 15 years at Alta Bates Hospital and Tampico Terrace Care Center where he worked, and friends who needed his help to get back on their feet.
Marco lives on through his wife, Dora and two children; Lucas, age 5 and Hope, age 4, his Mom and Dad, sister and brother.
Although his life with us was short, he lived a fulfilling 37 years. Marco earned his PhD in Physical Therapy in 2012 . Marco was most known for his passion for running. He completed over 8 marathons, countless half marathons and 10k's. San Francisco, New York City and Boston Marathons were all completed during his 5 year battle.
Marco maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by his witness of constant love and faith. His signature gift of joy, shown through his constant smiling, laughter and servitude, will never be forgotten.
