I would like you to meet a young couple who are struggling to get stabilized. This is Marcell and Ebony along with Destiny (8), Marcell Jr (4) and Marquez (1). Marcell and Ebony are in their late twenties and have high school educations. I met  Marcell about 1 year ago and hired him to work as helper for one of my roof cleaning crews. I only spoke to him a few times a week, mostly about  the work he was doing. Marcel was promoted in August to a more stable and higher paying position in the office and I was able to get to know him better. 

I found out that Marcell and his family are living in a 350 square feet motel room for the last year. There is a very small refrigerator and a microwave. The family is not able to cook or provide sensible meals. Destiny is not going to school as the area is not safe. Marcell was struggling to pay the high motel fees and save enough for first and last payments on a rental.

The family does not have a car so I have been helping them find an apartment or house. I have found a home with an affordable rent in Upper Darby and the landlord has agreed to a December first move in date. Thanks to some family, neighbors and friends, I have collected enough beds, furniture, car seats, kitchen items, towels and linens for them to move in. The home is 1.5 hours by bus one way to work.

I am asking for small donations to help this family pay first and last rent payments and purchase a car with insurance. I am confident with this initial boost, this family will be stabilized, have safe living conditions, be able to provide good food nutrition, have basic transportation and the children will be able to go to school. 

I am committing myself long term to help this family move out of homelessness and have a better life.
