MARATHON NO.9; NOTTINGHAMSHIRE FOR ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION

For my 9th marathon, I’m running through Nottinghamshire in support of Still’s Disease, raising funds for the Arthritis Foundation to help those affected by this painful and debilitating condition.

What is Still’s Disease?
Still’s Disease is a rare and severe form of autoimmune arthritis that can cause high fevers, rashes, and debilitating joint pain. It affects both children and adults, disrupting daily life with unpredictable flare-ups that bring extreme fatigue, inflammation, and, in some cases, long-term joint damage. The disease is classified as Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (SJIA) in children and Adult-Onset Still’s Disease (AOSD) in adults, both of which require ongoing treatment to manage pain and prevent further complications.

Why am I running for Still’s Disease?
Imagine waking up every morning unsure if your body will cooperate that day; this is the struggles of people with this horrible disease often face; including one of the closest people in my life had to face and so many others. For those living with Still’s Disease, even simple tasks like walking, holding a cup, or getting dressed can be excruciating. The unpredictability of the condition makes it difficult to plan ahead, and many sufferers battle with long hospital stays, costly treatments, and a lack of widespread awareness. This marathon is not just about running 26.2 miles—it’s about standing with those who can’t always stand for themselves. It’s about raising awareness so that more people understand this rare condition and, most importantly, pushing for better research and treatments.

What is the Arthritis Foundation and what does it do?
The Arthritis Foundation is a lifeline for millions of people facing the daily struggles of arthritis-related conditions, including Still’s Disease. They provide research funding, patient support, advocacy, and educational resources to help improve the quality of life for those affected. Their work doesn’t stop at one condition—they fight for better treatments, increased awareness, and a future where arthritis and autoimmune diseases don’t limit anyone’s potential.

How does the Arthritis Foundation help people with Still’s Disease?
Every donation makes a real difference:
£10 provides essential informational guides to newly diagnosed patients.
£25 funds support groups and helplines, connecting patients with expert advice.
£50 contributes to research efforts aimed at finding better treatments.
£100+ goes towards life-changing medical research, bringing us closer to a cure.

Still’s Disease may be rare, but its impact is life-altering. With your support, the Arthritis Foundation can continue their vital work—giving hope to those living with chronic pain and uncertainty. This is Marathon #9, but for many battling Still’s Disease, every day is a marathon of its own. Let’s run together, let’s fight together, and let’s make a difference.

Please donate today; this is for you Welsey, one of the best and strongest humans I am ever going to meet who overcame this horrible condition and for the others facing stills x
