My 51st marathon takes me to London’s Hyde Park. This week’s run is for Anxiety UK, a national charity supporting those affected by anxiety, stress, and anxiety-based depression.
What is the struggle?
Anxiety is one of the most common mental health conditions in the UK, affecting millions of people. For some, it shows up as constant worry or panic attacks; for others, it can be crippling social anxiety or health-related fears. Left untreated, it can impact relationships, careers, education, and every part of daily life. Yet despite its prevalence, stigma and misunderstanding often stop people from seeking help.
Why am I running for this cause?
Because everyone deserves peace of mind. I know how debilitating anxiety can be, and how powerful the right support is in helping people reclaim their lives. Running for Anxiety UK is my way of helping raise awareness and supporting the work that gives people tools to cope, heal, and thrive.
What is Anxiety UK and what do they do?
Founded in 1970 by people who themselves had lived with anxiety, Anxiety UK is run by and for those affected by the condition. They provide therapy services, helplines, self-help resources, and community support across the country. They also work to challenge stigma and promote better understanding of anxiety in workplaces, schools, and healthcare.
Your donation directly supports people living with anxiety:
• £10 helps fund helpline calls providing immediate reassurance and advice.
• £25 contributes to therapy sessions for those unable to afford treatment.
• £50 supports digital resources and self-help materials accessed nationwide.
• £100 strengthens training and campaigns to raise awareness and reduce stigma.
Please donate to Anxiety UK and help bring hope, support, and freedom to those living with anxiety. For more info: www.anxietyuk.org.uk
