My 48th marathon takes me to Bristol. This week’s run is for Oxfam, supporting their vital work across Asia to tackle poverty, inequality, and the effects of disaster and climate change.
What is the struggle?
Across Asia, millions of people live in poverty without secure livelihoods, safe water, or access to healthcare. Many communities are hit hardest by natural disasters and the growing impact of climate change, leaving families displaced and vulnerable. Women and girls, in particular, face barriers to education and opportunity. The cycle of poverty and inequality continues unless there’s intervention that empowers people to build resilience and shape their own futures.
Why am I running for this cause?
Because poverty is not inevitable—it’s unjust. I believe in the potential of every person, but without the basics of safety, opportunity, and dignity, that potential is held back. Running for Oxfam is my way of supporting work that lifts people out of poverty and gives them the tools to thrive, not just survive.
What is Oxfam and what do they do?
Oxfam is a global movement working in more than 60 countries, with a strong presence in Asia. They respond to emergencies like earthquakes, floods, and conflict, while also working long-term to tackle inequality. Their programmes empower women, strengthen local economies, improve access to clean water, and campaign for fairer systems worldwide. In Asia, this means helping communities recover from disasters, adapt to climate change, and create opportunities for generations to come.
Your donation directly supports communities in Asia:
• £10 provides safe drinking water after emergencies.
• £25 supplies hygiene kits to families displaced by disaster.
• £50 helps women access skills training and livelihoods.
• £100 supports long-term projects tackling inequality and climate resilience.
Please donate to Oxfam and help communities across Asia overcome poverty and build a fairer, brighter future. For more info: www.oxfam.org.uk
