On June 14, I’ll be lacing up for Marathon 24 in the village of Colwall, in the county of Herefordshire. This week, I’m running in support of Parkinson’s UK,a progressive condition that turns everyday actions into uphill battles.
What is Parkinson’s?
Parkinson’s is a neurological condition that affects movement, coordination, and balance. It’s caused by the gradual loss of dopamine-producing nerve cells in the brain. People with Parkinson’s often experience tremors, stiffness, slowness of movement, and fatigue. There is currently no cure, and the condition gets worse over time.
Why am I Running for Parkinson’s?
Because Parkinson’s doesn’t just change lives—it takes them apart piece by piece. People living with Parkinson’s are fighting every single day to hold on to their independence, their dignity, and their identity. What they need most—beyond medication and mobility aids, is hope. This marathon is for every shaking hand, every slow step, and every family watching a loved one fight this relentless disease.
What is Parkinson’s UK and What Do They Do?
Parkinson’s UK is the leading charity driving better research, support, and awareness across the country. They fund life-changing scientific breakthroughs, campaign for better treatments, and provide essential support to people affected by Parkinson’s—whether it’s advice, emotional guidance, or help navigating healthcare. Their mission is clear: to improve life for everyone living with Parkinson’s, and ultimately, to find a cure.
How Parkinson’s UK Helps (and What Your Donation Can Do)
Every donation fuels real, tangible change:
• £10 provides expert advice and emotional support through their helpline.
• £25 helps fund cutting-edge research into new therapies and treatments.
• £50 supports local activity groups, giving people community and connection.
• £100 contributes to clinical trials aiming to slow, stop, or reverse the disease.
Please join me in supporting Parkinson’s UK. Your donation is literally one step closer to a cure.
