MARATHON NO.19; ESSEX FOR GOALS BEYOND GRASS

In the county of Essex and the town of Chelmsford, I'm running my 19th marathon for Goals Beyond Grass to support those living with life-altering injuries.

What are Life-Changing Injuries?
Life-changing injuries—such as spinal cord injuries, limb loss, or traumatic brain injuries—can abruptly alter a person's physical abilities and daily life. These injuries often result in permanent disabilities, requiring individuals to adapt to new ways of living. The physical challenges are compounded by emotional and psychological hurdles, as individuals navigate a world that may not always be accommodating or understanding of their new circumstances.

Why am I running for those affected by Injuries?
These individuals demonstrate remarkable resilience as they adapt to new realities, often facing barriers to participation in activities they once loved. Sports and physical activity can be powerful tools for rehabilitation and empowerment, yet access to adaptive sports remains limited. By running, I aim to raise awareness and funds to help bridge this gap, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to experience the joy and benefits of sport.

What is Goals Beyond Grass and what do they do?
Goals Beyond Grass is a UK-based charity dedicated to making sports accessible to individuals with disabilities. Although not necessarily only for individuals who have suffered life changing injuries, the organisation focuses on delivering inclusive sports programs, such as powerchair football, to communities across my home county Gloucestershire and beyond. Their mission is to reduce social isolation and promote physical activity among disabled individuals, fostering a sense of community and belonging .

How do Goals Beyond Grass helps people with these struggles?
Every donation to Goals Beyond Grass contributes to the development and expansion of their adaptive sports programs. For instance:
£10 can provide essential equipment for a powerchair football session.
£50 can fund a community outreach event, introducing adaptive sports to new participants.
£100 can support the training of coaches specialized in inclusive sports.

These contributions enable individuals with life-changing injuries to engage in physical activity, build confidence, and connect with others facing similar challenges. Through this run, I hope to shine a light on the importance of inclusive sports and the incredible work of Goals Beyond Grass. Your support can make a tangible difference, bringing adaptive sports to more communities and empowering individuals to reclaim their strength and independence. Please consider donating.
