Hello guys, Marty Smith here and I’m hoping to undertake another challenge on the Friday 18th of July 2025 at Alpha HPF in Castlewellan County Down. I will be aiming to complete 5 solo Hyrox events in 24 hrs, one event consists of 8km of running along with various other fitness stations like rowing, skiing, sled work and some body weight exercises.. the running alone will total 40km (I aim to make up another 2km which would equate to a marathon!!) and along with all the other stations will be a good test, although it'll likely sting a bit!!

The plan is to raise some much needed funds for Marie Curie Nurses and The Alzheimer’s Society, two charities very close to my heart. Mum unfortunately passed away Jan 2021 having been diagnosed with lung cancer in May 2020 and the Marie Curie support gave some much needed help when things were at the lowest point. My dad passed away last July 17th (the challenge marks his first anniversary) suffering with Alzheimer’s, a horrible, degenerative brain disease causing memory loss and eventually physical disability, very difficult to watch and at present for which there is no cure. My aim is to raise £2000 by doing this challenge and split the proceeds between these two very worthwhile charities.. who knows.. I might even lose some weight and get a bit fitter in the process!!!
