Marathon for Remembrance - Courcelette 1916 Memorial

My name is Joe, a 22 year old University of Alberta student passionate about making a positive impact on the world. On the 7th of May 2026, I will be running over 100 kilometres across the former battlefields of Europe to raise money for the Loyal Edmonton Regiment Association benevolent and battle monument fund.

To me, honouring those that gave us our freedom is everything. From a local standpoint, I want to make a difference and mark the places that the soldiers from the Edmonton Regiment fought and died. With little left of the battle sites, I fear their memory and sacrifice may soon be forgotten.

Your donation, big or small, will help change this. Land has already been secured on the Passchendaele 1917 battlefield where 16,000 Canadians were killed and wounded and on the Courcelette 1916 battlefield where a shocking 24,000 Canadians became casualties.

Any excess money will be used for the Loyal Edmonton Regiment benevolent fund to ensure that families of fallen soldiers are looked after.

I thank you kindly for your time, consideration and donation big or small. And thank you for helping my dream become a reality.
