Running a Marathon for Costa Rica

We’re running a Marathon! 

Hi, I’m Christina and I will be running the Barns Green Half Marathon on the 24th of September, and with the help of my family, we will run a marathon between us to raise money for my volunteering project in Costa Rica. I would be so grateful if you would support me. 

On the 9th of October I will begin 10 weeks of volunteering with Raleigh International. Raleigh aims to connect young volunteers with the most marginalised members of communities, including Indigenous groups, who are largely excluded from the country’s political, social, and economic developments. With three different phases, we will be able to support a wide range of people in need to create a positive long lasting change.

The Community Project aims to develop access to education for children in indigenous communities, especially young girls who can face barriers to education. During the Environmental Project, I will be working with local organisations to support biodiversity preservations and development in indigenous communities. This is an area that I have a particular interest in, as I will be reading Biology at Bristol University next year. Finally, a 19 day trek through rainforest and up volcanoes will give me the opportunity to develop an understanding of the environment with unforgettable memories.
