Marathon 2021 - MASI and Pieta House
Donation protected
This past year has been tough for us all. Covid-19 has changed all of our lives in ways we never could’ve expected.
But this pandemic does not affect us all equally; some people in our communities are unfortunately hit harder than others. On top of dealing with the virus, some people are struggling to put a permanent roof over their heads; some people are struggling to feed their families now that unemployment is sky-high; some people live alone and are struggling to keep themselves afloat mentally and emotionally without a support group.
And this is why we want to raise money for both MASI and Pieta House.
MASI, set up in 2014, is the collective Movement of Asylum Seekers in Ireland, speaking as one voice to demand an end to the inhumane treatment of asylum seekers in direct provision here in Ireland. They are independent, not affiliated with any NGO or political party, and thus they depend on the charity of people like you reading this right now, to help fund their work.
Pieta House, set up in 2006, is an organization which works to provide professional one-to-one therapeutic care and counselling to those in suicidal distress or engaging in self-harm. All of their services are free of charge, and no Doctor’s referral is needed. But like MASI, they are largely funded by the public and so, by donating, you yourself are indirectly providing care to people in desperate need of it.
On April 4th, Easter Sunday, five of us will run 42km around Dublin. I’m sure you don’t need us to tell you how difficult it is to run a marathon, but we gladly accept the challenge if it means successfully bringing awareness to these charities and raising as much money as possible to donate to them both.
So gowan, throw us a fiver there if you can!
We appreciate any and all donations!
