Dec 2021: Hello friends, I didn't realize this fundraiser from last year was still open to donations. I have now changed the setting to "do not accept donations." Please donate to our current fundraiser "7th annual Mara fundraiser for Pomegranate Midwives' Holiday Hampers."
Much love and thank you - Tammy
Dear friends,
Thank you for the love and kind thoughts and prayers you've sent to Rob and me. October is always a challenging month for us. We miss our Mara every day, and miss her even more in October when our memories become that much more intense.
This October felt especially difficult at times. It's hard to believe it's been 5 years since we welcomed our Mara, and then had to say good-bye to her. This year she should be heading off to kindergarten with several of our little neighbourhood friends. This is the first year since she died that the days of the week line up with the dates of her life - which somehow makes our hearts hurt even more. And last, but not least, COVID means we can't have our annual Mara party and welcome everyone into our home as usual.
I knew those parties were soothing to my soul - but didn't realize just how much we needed them until this year when it just can't happen in the same way.
And yet... the families supported by our fabulous midwives at Pomegranate Community Midwives still need our help. More than ever, given this pandemic year.
In every other year of the hamper project, our midwives create big hampers catered to each family's unique needs. The hampers often include food, toys, baby supplies, gifts for all members of the family, and gift cards so that families can use to buy the things they know their family needs. This year our midwives have decided that gift cards are the best way to support the families in need.
Please help us in remembering our Mara by supporting our Midwives' Holiday Hamper Project. Truly, any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated.
Rob and I look forward to hosting you again at our home, as soon as we can.
With much love,
Tammy and Rob
