Mapperton House & Gardens Raise Funds for Weldmar Hospicecare!

Acclaimed British artist and Royal Academician Maggi Hambling has donated a stunning original painting, Moon and Sea 2024, to launch a brand new Fundraiser in support of Weldmar Hospicecare.

Maggi has generously gifted this piece in honour of her close friendship with Caroline, Lady Sandwich, and in memory of the late Earl of Sandwich, who was lovingly supported by Weldmar in his final illness. This fundraiser is being organised by Mapperton House & Gardens and together with the Montagu family of Mapperton, we're hoping to raise £8,000 to show our deep appreciation for Weldmar’s incredible work.

Weldmar Hospicecare, a local Dorset charity provides vital, compassionate care for people with life-limiting illnesses – including cancer, MND, and heart disease – and support for their families.

Why Weldmar needs you:

Weldmar provides all of its care free of charge, but only 20% of its funding comes from the NHS. That means the remaining £26,000 needed every single day must come from people like us – their community.
