Allan Mandindi has been an inspiration to me. He has overcome great odds from growing up in rural Malawi where he attended Std 8 at a school where one text book was shared amongst a whole classroom to serving in the British army, founding an organisation that does charitable work and actively serves the community of Manchester whilst serving in the local council. He has authored two books: Mindset of Greatness and The Drive to Advance. Now he is setting up a community library in his home country of Malawi in Lilongwe’s Area 25 township.

He recognises that most children in Malawi do not have access to books outside the classroom and he would like to create opportunities for these young minds to explore new and innovative ideas.

This community library will not only benefit the youth but will also inspire literacy among adults.

His mission is to increase book access whilst inspiring the youth by activating their imaginations and expanding their knowledge.

He has already donated and distributed over 200 copies of his books to the youth of Malawi.

In October 2025 he will be going to Malawi to visit schools and donate some more books and educational materials in Malawi. His vision is to send 20 barrels of books to Malawi containing around 2000 books. This will cost around £210 for each barrel totalling £4200. This go fundme is to help him with these costs.

Firstly you can donate and drop off children's books that are in good condition at one of the Malawi to Manchester book drive days either on Saturday 5nd July between 10:00 and 13:00 or on Saturday 2 August 14:00 - 17:00 at Malawi Heritage UK, M11 2FU in Manchester.

Secondly you can donate here and share to your networks. Your donation of £5 or more will go towards the cost of transporting the barrels from Manchester to Malawi.
