Man On Inverclyde Half Marathon
Hows it going team Connor McGhee here. I’mgoing to be running a half marathon (22 Kilometers) on Saturday the 6th of June in order to help raise funds for a local peer support group who have been helping to provide mental health support for men within the local area.
“Man on inverclyde” is a men’s suicide prevention peer support service for the men of inverclyde. Recently in inverclyde there has been quite a spike in young men attempting to take their own lives. Man on was created by individuals which have experienced the effects suicide can leave behind through friends or family members.
While I understand its tough times for everyone at the minute if you could spare a few quid for the service being provided by these guys it would be beyond appreciated and I’m sure your money will go a long way Here are some examples of which your support can help to provide.
the money which is generated will be able to produce and provide “Survival Boxes” for men who are experiencing low moods or suicidal thoughts. This would include leaflets on keeping safe, memory boxes to fill and a personalised safety plan to keep them safe for now. Purchase of resources available to deliver specific group work and programme, post Covid-19 and lockdown. Funds available to purchase back up devices to ensure that men who require online access for Zoom / Whatsapp can loan one if required.
Stay safe and thank you all❤️
Connor.
