Malta 2025 - Explorer Belt Expedition

Hello, my name is Charley Brown, and I am a 16-year-old explorer with the Gosport District Explorers.

My scouting journey commenced at the tender age of six when I joined the 6th Gosport Beavers, just before my seventh birthday. Over the past nine years, I have progressed through various sections, culminating in my current role as an explorer. In addition to this, I have returned to the 6th Gosport as a young leader, contributing to as many sections as possible—Beavers (aged 6-8), Cubs (aged 8-10½), Scouts (aged 10½-14), and most recently, the new Squirrels section introduced in 2020 for ages four to six.

My time spent helping younger scouts has been immensely rewarding. It is gratifying to ensure that they receive an enriching experience similar to what I enjoyed during my formative years in scouting. Through these efforts, I am proud to have earned my Young Leader belt—one of the highest accolades available within the explorers' programme.

I am now embarking on a new venture and setting up this GoFundMe page to raise funds for my next significant milestone: undertaking the Explorer Belt expedition. This award represents one of scouting's most prestigious achievements and entails completing a challenging expedition that tests one's skills and resilience.

The expedition will take place over two weeks from July 5th to July 20th, 2025, across beautiful Malta. The funds raised through this initiative will directly contribute towards covering expenses associated with this remarkable journey. My aspirations for participating in this expedition extend beyond personal achievement; I aim to learn invaluable skills while creating extraordinary memories that will last a lifetime.

Upon returning from Malta, it is my hope that I can leverage these experiences to inspire younger scouting sections within our community. By sharing what I learn along this journey, I wish to encourage them all to strive for excellence and make their own memorable experiences in scouting.
