Hi everyone!
My name is M'Launie and as I prepare to enter my junior year of college, my focus is locked in on a future in the healthcare field. I’ve always known that I wanted my career to be about more than just medicine, I want it to be about equity, empowerment, and sustainable change.
That is why this summer, I am embarking on a life-changing journey. I have committed to joining a Medical Brigade to Guatemala in July 2026.
It’s easy to take a local pharmacy or a quick doctor's appointment for granted. But for millions, that is a luxury they simply don’t have. 3.5 billion people, nearly half the world’s population, face significant barriers to essential health services.
In the rural communities of Guatemala where we will be working, clinics are scarce and often lack doctors, nurses, and basic medicines. Families often have to travel for hours on foot just to receive the most fundamental care.
Our Mission: Sustainable & Ethical Care
This isn’t just a "visit." Our mission is to work hand-in-hand with local staff and community partners to build lasting health equity. We aren't just bringing supplies; we are: providing medical and dental care to underserved populations, empowering communities with resources and skills that remain long after we leave, and collaborating on economic goals to help these regions thrive independently.
Why This Matters to Me
As a future health professional, this brigade is a vital step in my journey. It will allow me to build clinical experience, cultural competence, and leadership skills that simply cannot be learned in a classroom. I want to enter the healthcare workforce not just with technical knowledge, but with a deep understanding of the global barriers to wellness.
How You Can Help
To make this mission a reality, I need to raise funds to cover the fundraising goal for supplies, lodging, food, transportation, and flight.
If you aren't able to donate at this time, please consider sharing this page with your network. Every share helps me get one step closer to being able to go to Guatemala and help a community get one step closer to the care they deserve.
Thank you for being part of my next chapter and for helping us build a world where health is a right, not a privilege.
With gratitude,
M'Launie Sanchez
