Ask how many male victims of intimate partner violence took their own life last year, and no one can tell you. Not because it doesn't happen — because no one's counting.
There's no coronial review methodology for male suicide linked to abuse. There's no consistent data on male victims of intimate partner violence. The system wasn't built to see us, and until it is, men like me will keep falling through the cracks — unrecognised, uncounted, and unheard.
I'm a former research scientist, and I've spent the last year turning that experience into something useful: building the case, with actual data, for why this gap needs to close. I'm now setting up a registered charity to fund the research, advocacy, and support that male victims currently don't have access to — because right now, "too male to be a victim" isn't just a slogan, it's how the system actually treats us.
This isn't about taking anything away from other victims. It's about making sure the data exists, the research gets done, and the next man who needs help isn't told he doesn't count. Every dollar raised here goes toward getting this charity registered, funding the research, and building the advocacy infrastructure to make that happen.
