My name is Mariana, and I am a former Peace Corps Malawi volunteer.
I am walking the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage in honor of Malawi to expand educational access by helping build a high school for children in need with Streetwise Trust.
Streetwise Trust, a community-based organization on the outskirts of Kanengo, Lilongwe, is dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable people in rural areas. They currently run an orphanage, an employment center, and a primary school.
Despite these incredible efforts, many children’s education ends after primary school. The nearest high schools are too far away, and even when accessible, families often cannot afford the fees.
To change this, Streetwise has already purchased land (thanks to early donors!) to build a much-needed high school at the heart of the community. The next step is raising $25,000 to construct the school and give these children the chance to continue their education.
This is a unique opportunity to make a difference because:
1. You’re giving directly to a locally-led project
2. Your gift has high impact per dollar
Thank you for walking with me—and with the children of Malawi—on this journey. Buen Camino
⚠️ Please note: Streetwise Trust is not a U.S. 501(c)(3), so donations are not tax-deductible. I will personally transfer all funds raised directly to Streetwise’s bank account in Malawi.
