Hello, my name is Emily, and I’m currently volunteering in Kenya with the Greencard Mtaani Foundation—a local charity dedicated to educating, empowering, and protecting vulnerable children.

Right now, the school urgently needs desk chairs to support the students’ learning. Each chair costs £30, and with 62 students, the goal is to provide enough desks—each seating two children—to fill a newly expanded classroom space. This addition is vital to creating a focused, supportive learning environment.

The foundation was started by Fred, who grew up in the Kibera slums. Through hard work and talent, he became a national football player, using sport as a way out of poverty and crime. But instead of leaving that life behind entirely, Fred returned to give back—determined to offer other children a better future through education and sport. What began as football training to keep kids off the streets has grown into a fully functioning school and a beacon of hope in the community.
