Making Mt. Pisgah Accessible for All Riders

Donation protected
My name is Theo Unruh and I have been a part of scouting with Troop 100 in Eugene for over 5 years. I am now working on my final rank of Eagle Scout which is based on a public service project. I have chosen the ambitious goal of building an accessible ramp and horse mounting block, based on National Forest Service designs, for the Mt. Pisgah recreation area. It’s truly a local treasure and should be accessible for all riders whether kids, disabled veterans, post joint surgery riders, or anyone facing additional challenges mounting from the ground. The Lane County Sheriff’s Posse has generously granted their arena location to locate the block & ramp for all the equestrian friends and enthusiasts at Mt. Pisgah. Scouting gave my family and I so many recreational opportunities in Eugene and now I want to give something back. Please donate if you can, the biggest barrier appears to be the cost of the pressure treated timbers we need. We have set the first goal to almost fund the block portion but the total for the ramp will be quite a bit more (block cost x3).

Update: we reached the goal for the step block portion and have increased the total goal to now reflect the additional 20’ L x 2’ H ramp we hope to include for greater accessibility reach.
