Four years ago our lives changed when our youngest daughter suddenly took unwell.
Over a period of months/ years she has regressed, lost her speech, her swallow, paralysis of the left side, dystonia in right hand & her mobility but the most heartbreaking her memory.
Currently, she spends her days in between drop episodes & non epileptic seizures looking out at the garden. We would love to raise the garden up & create a level access seating area were we can spend time together outside along with a sensory wall.
Our driveway has been taken up by a metal temporary ramp which is finally due to be made permanent. A few other changes are required a widened doorway (to accomodate more complex wheelchairs power & manual) & increase the entrance hallway for larger turning circle for Saoirse to make her way into her play/ therapy room (which will not only benefit us but also allow my brother Shane who was left paraplegic after an accident a few years ago to be able to come visit).
We are fundraising to help make these upgrades to the ground floor of our property as we put all our savings over the last few years into private therapies (Physio & Conductive education), private medical appointments (Wrist Orthopaedics/ Spinal/ Pans/Pandas Specialist), Specialist seating & upgrading our 1st floor to ensure our daughter could try & maintain a little part of her independence.
We have been navigating a lonely journey when your child has complex medical requirements.
These simple changes will make all the difference to our lives as a family. Will give us outside space to entertain and enjoy family time. Be able to come together outside.
We appreciate this project will take time & the disability housing grant will only cover so much of this.
Any donation no matter how small will make a huge difference to our family.
We hope anything extra raised we can put towards seeing a specialist in London.
