Making Christmas Brighter for Those Coping with Loss
Why I’m Supporting The Good Grief Trust This Christmas
Christmas is a beautiful season, filled with joy, family, and traditions. But for me, it has also been a bittersweet time. I lost my parents during my teenage years, and since then, the holidays have often been a reminder of their absence.
While I adore Christmas (the decorations, the markets, the food!) it can sometimes feel like a struggle to fully enjoy it without my family by my side.
Last Christmas, I decided to take a solo trip to 3 countries to escape the loneliness. The photo you see here is from one of those moments (in Switzerland) and, I still couldn't resist exploring their beautiful Christmas market.
Now in my late twenties, I’m fortunate enough to have ways to make Christmas feel special for me, whether through travel or other activities. But I often wonder about the children who have lost their parents - those who may not have the support, or even a comforting presence to make their Christmas feel warm and joyful. Where do they go? What do they do?
This year, instead of traveling, I want to do something meaningful. I’m raising funds for The Good Grief Trust, a charity that offers support to bereaved children and their families. They ensure no child has to feel alone, especially during the holidays.
***To make this fundraiser extra special, I’m committing to run 100km in December. I’ll post my progress and results as proof, and as a thank-you to everyone who joins me in supporting this incredible cause*** ♡ ♥
Christmas is about giving, and I’m so grateful for the chance to give back this year. Together, we can help children who are grieving feel loved, supported, and remembered.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me, it means everything.
