On 1st August, my friend Stewart and his friends from Naturist Scotland will be taking part in a sponsored skinny dip at Loch Lomond to raise money for my daughter, Eilidh.
Eilidh is 16 years old and lives with Kabuki syndrome and autism. Kabuki syndrome is a rare genetic condition that can affect many aspects of a person's development, learning, communication and overall health. Because it is so rare, many people have never heard of it, and families can often feel isolated as they navigate the challenges that come with the condition.
Despite the obstacles she faces, Eilidh is a much-loved young woman with her own personality, interests and dreams. Like any teenager, she deserves opportunities to enjoy life, create happy memories and experience new things.
I am Eilidh's dad and full-time carer. I also care for my wife, Anne, who has ongoing health difficulties of her own. Caring is something I do willingly and with love, but it can be physically, emotionally and financially demanding at times. Like many families in similar circumstances, we often have to put our own needs to one side while focusing on caring responsibilities.
The aim of this fundraiser is to help provide Eilidh with opportunities, experiences and special moments that can make a real difference to her quality of life. Whether that is days out, activities, short breaks or simply creating positive memories together as a family, every donation will help.
We are incredibly grateful to Stewart and everyone from Naturist Scotland for choosing to support Eilidh in such a unique and memorable way. Taking a sponsored skinny dip in Loch Lomond is certainly one way to make a splash for a good cause!
Every donation, no matter the size, is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page with friends and family would mean a great deal to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read Eilidh's story and for supporting our family.
With sincere thanks,
George, Anne & Eilidh
