Three days ago, my five children and I moved into a 4-bedroom, 2-bath house after spending the last 6 months in a shelter. After overcoming homelessness, this new place means everything to us. I work at a shoe store and have been praying, keeping faith, and doing everything I can to give my kids a fresh start.

Right now, we are starting over with almost nothing. We have no furniture, not enough food, barely any clothing, and no simple comforts to help keep the kids occupied while we settle in. Walking into a home of our own is a blessing, but it has also shown just how much we still need to make it livable for my family.
