On the morning of April 27 I got a call from MaKenliehs dad saying “McKenzie Willamette NOW” and that’s all he could say.
Not going into detail of what happened, Kenlieh was severely burnt on 27% of her body. Her face, ears, arms, back, stomach, ect. Burns EVERYWHERE. Wayyyy too critical for care in Eugene or Springfield. Originally they said they were gonna take her to dornbechers by ambulance, but her condition got worst with each passing moment. She was life flighted to legacy hospital at the ronald McDonald children’s hospital for a long stay. We were told due to the severity of the burns they had to shave parts of Kenliehs head, and they cut off both braids she was wearing. If anyone knows her you know that she LOVES her hair, but her not having hair is the least of our worries, she’s still just as beautiful. We haven’t gotten to see her yet, but she’s going to need multiple surgeries and it’s going to be a long road to recovery. Shes sedated and has a breathing tube along with a feeding tube, and we have to wear gloves and a gown to even see our baby!
Everyone knows that we have 3 other babies at home, but right now Kenlieh needs us the most. So Jeremy and I are both in Portland. That being said I’m the main care
taker of the kids, and I’m having to take extended time off work to be here with her while Jeremy is working and trying his best to provide for the other kids. He doesn’t have money for daycare which we’ll need due to me having to be up here with her, and the kids are gonna need to see me as well. I never ask for help unless I’m truly in need and right now, that’s one of those times.
Having to take 4-6 weeks off of work at least to be here for MaKenlieh I’m left worrying about daycare for the other kids, bills, gas to get to and from town so that way I can still see the other kids as well, and food for both Jeremy and I while we’re up here. I don’t have a savings account for emergencies like some have, so here we are asking for help. If you can’t help and donate, at least pray. She’s got a very long road ahead of her, but everyone is on her side.
