Who We Are:
Smoketree Swim & Recreation Club has been a staple of the Smoketree neighborhood in Tucker, GA for over 40 years. The Club, situated on a charming natural lake, features a swimming pool, dog run, tennis courts, fishing, event space, and a playground. Families for four decades have made memories learning to swim, playing tennis, participating in community events, enjoying the grounds, throwing birthday parties for little ones, and learning about local happenings in the monthly newsletter.
As our community has changed over the years, so has Smoketree Swim & Recreation Club. Membership has ebbed and flowed as neighbors have moved and consequently interest has dwindled. The new SSRC Board is doing all that we can to recruit new members and create fun and engaging experiences for everyone.
The Club is a non-profit organization run by a small committee of volunteers and is completely dependent on membership dues to cover the cost of services and repairs to the pool and other amenities. The once new and shiny swim and recreation center is in desperate need of some love -- the pool has not been resurfaced in 18 years and is at risk of permanent damage that would devastate SSRC and ultimately lead it’s closure, the 20-year-old diving board rusted and snapped, the roof is showing signs of aging, and our tennis courts are cracking and too slippery to use.
What We Need:
We are reaching out to our community to help us Make Waves Together to revitalize Smoketree Swim & Recreation Club for generations to come. We've secured $25,000 to kickstart these vital projects. Resurfacing the pool and installing a new diving board are top priorities, requiring $37,000. Our initial target is $12,000 to initiate these transformative changes. Our aspirational goal of $25,000 will help us tackle more improvements like the tennis courts, the cabana's roof, fencing, and other ongoing maintenance.
