You are reading this because you have been invited to my wedding and because you are important to me. I am so glad you are joining me on September 27, 2025, in person or in spirit.

What’s a Solo Wedding?

This is not your typical wedding. My solo wedding does not include marriage to another person, nor to myself. But it is just as important and significant as any traditional wedding. I am still on the journey of finding a life partner, so instead of a marriage, I am having a wedding. This is not self marriage, sologamy or autogamy. This is a solo wedding in the true sense of the word and as far as I know, it’s the first of its kind. #solowedding

Why Wedding?

I have always wanted a wedding! (In fact I used to read the New York Times Wedding Section religiously and I have dreamed of being featured). I want to party with people I love and enjoy great food and drink with them. I want to wear a wedding dress, eat a wedding cake and throw a bouquet. I want to reflect on life’s transitions with my communities, toast life (l’chaim) and my friends. I want to have rituals led by a celebrant. I want to sing, dance and be merry. I want to laugh, cry and be surprised. I want a wedding! I turned 60 this year and this milestone birthday is an opportunity to celebrate who and what is important to me. I want to bring my communities together to revel in joy and connection and to reflect on life and what we value, so we can navigate these challenging times with aplomb.

What Will the Funds Be Used For?

I am seeking to raise $5,000 to help cover the costs of my dream wedding including:

- Venue: Judson Church (https://www.judson.org/). A spiritual, artistic and inclusive space, run by my friends, in a perfect location.

- Venue Staff: Lighting and sound tech, house managers and security.

- Food and Beverages: Because what is a wedding without good food and drink? I am looking forward to sharing with you the creative feast of flavors provided by Staten Island native, Chef Jonathan Padro (https://www.padrokitchen.com/).

- Decorations: Fun and festive, lights and flowers or something unexpected.

- Invitations: Old school invitations mailed by the US Postal Service with actual stamps!

- Wedding Website: Designed by Curated By the Collective (https://curatedbythecollective.com/).

- Musical Director: The incomparable Jeannine Otis, dynamo of talent, love and generosity (https://jeannineotis.com/).

- Wedding Cake: A custom made cake with 60 pugs!
