Sink it and they will come! But we need to act NOW!!

Escambia County has an opportunity to make tourism development lightning strike twice! First the Oriskany, and now Escambia County is pursuing the purchase of the SS United States to become world's largest ship sunk as an artificial reef. The SS United States would be a significant and self sustaining benefit to divers, fisherman and the local economy!!

We need your help now! We need this grass roots movement to raise money to seed the acquisition of the SS United States. There are two methods to donate:

1) Donate through this Go Fund me. If we do not get the funding needed, 97.1% of your donation is refundable.

2) Donate to a fund set up at the county for this cause. BE SURE to earmark the money for the SS United States and if by some chance we do not get it, you can get 100% of your money back. Please make checks out to the Escambia County Aquatic Resources Stewardship Endowment Fund. In the memo section state “for the SS United States”. Mail the check to:
