Hi my names Maizy I am a current year 9 high school student who has signed up to go to Kenya during the Easter holidays in 2027 with Port Vale Foundation and African Adventures. This is an 8-night volunteer trip, where we choose to either teach/coach in the school or complete renovation work within the school as well as helping the children and families in the local community. In order to go to Kenya, we have to fundraise our place which in total is £2395.00, therefore we are in the process of various different individual fundraising events, as well as group events in school and with Port Vale Foundation.

I have chosen to volunteer in Kenya because I deeply believe in the importance of giving back to those in greater need than myself. This opportunity allows me to dedicate my time and energy to helping others, and to share the knowledge and skills I’ve gained in life to support individuals in building a brighter future.

My goal is not only to contribute practically, but also to bring joy and create lasting memories for the children I’ll be working with. I hope to inspire, uplift, and connect with them in meaningful ways—leaving behind not just help, but hope.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

Maizy x
