Maintaining Beach Access for dune-Allen
Donation protected
Goal Update (August 2024): Thank you to everyone who has contributed! Your donations have been monumental in fighting this case. We urge you to share this cause with anyone who supports our mission.
Trial dates have been set. They are November 25-26, December 3, and December 10. The legal fees are mounting and we still have a lot of preparation prior to trial. We have currently used all donations to date and have more expenses coming. Any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated.
Your support financially and the action you all have taken to make our concerns heard and build a solid case is truly amazing. We ask you to continue to share with those that support our cause. Keep fighting the good fight!
Goal Update (June 2024): To start off this update, we want to express our gratitude for your continued financial support and the action the dune-Allen community is taking to save our beaches.
We’ve made slow, but steady progress and there is a court date tentatively scheduled for late fall. Please continue to spread the word and pass along any information that may be relevant to the case.
Goal Update (April 2024): First, a big thank you to all of our donors. Again, we would not be able to do this without your help.
Dune-Allen Beach Inc.'s legal fees have already surpassed $15,000, therefore we have decided to increase our goal once again. Due to how quickly our legal fees have added up, we are setting our new goal at $50,000. In the next 3 months, we could easily be at $30,000 or more in legal fees.
Currently, we have provided all supporting documents and statements indicating what our family's intent was for beach access and how the lots were plotted. We are also working with our attorneys to determine what action we can legally take to demand the beach front property owners to remove the private property signage and allow beach goers to occupy these areas until the lawsuit is settled, given it is not their property currently and the whole reason for the lawsuit. Our family is using various methods to build awareness and request for financial support.
Several of you have volunteered to help and want to be involved and we appreciate every bit of it! We do not want to jeopardize the lawsuit in any way and are making sure that all of our efforts with your help and ideas, are approved to implement.
Thank you so very much for supporting our fight!
Goal Update (January 2024): Thank you to everyone who has already donated. We would not be able to do this without you! Your contributions have already been put to use paying legal fees to gather information, obtain supporting documents and record depositions.
Dune-Allen Beach Inc. is just getting started legally defending what was intended by our family, and we feel it necessary to go ahead and increase our goal. At this juncture we have already accumulated a little over $5,000 in legal fees and another suit has been filed against us. Therefore, we are increasing our goal from $7,000 initially, to $14,000.
We appreciate everyone’s financial support and offers to help in other ways as well. We will continue to keep you updated as we make progress. If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to reach out.
Fundraiser: The Allens first came to dune-Allen Beach (Santa Rosa Beach, FL) almost 80 years ago, and it has always been their intent for the beaches here to be enjoyed by all dune-Allen subdivision landowners and the general public. They provided accesses to the beach, and they reserved a portion of the beach near these accesses for this very purpose. Now some of the beach front landowners are pursuing quiet title action and attempting to take this beach front that was set aside specifically for inland landowners. The lots in question were deeded in the 1960's, and no such action has ever been pursued since that time. With the settlement of the Walton County Customary Use suit, these beach front landowners know that if they can grab this beach, they can essentially deny all access. The Allens of course are fighting this litigation, thank goodness, and they need our help.
Dune-Allen Beach Inc. no longer generates revenue and would greatly appreciate your monetary support. Any unused funds raised would be donated to local causes.
