Meet Mai, a Hmong micro farmer who, living on an extremely low income, is behind on her lease and finds difficulty putting food on the table due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mai is one of thousands of micro farmers across the state whose sales venues have shut down and crops were not sold. Like many other farmers, she was unable to access any of the crisis relief funds due to numerous barriers. Her story is not unique but this older farmer has many other factors that inspired me to raise funds for her. She does not own a tractor and needs many tools, so she does a lot of the work by hand. This is hard work, especially at her age. She does not have any children to help her on the farm and she literally cried out for help, a hard thing to do in her culture. Your support will enable her to pay on her lease and buy food, a basic need that no farmer should have to worry about since they feed our nation! Mai doesn't know about the fundraiser but it will make her SO happy, a feeling she has not experienced in a long time. Please give up a coffee or a lunch and pitch in to help Mai!
