UPDATE:Dad’s amputation went successfully. The wound is healing. His morphine is now being reduced and he has begun physiotherapy. He is eating food that is easy to process, a little at a time.

Unfortunately, soon after the amputation, dad suffered a stroke that has affected the right side of his brain hemisphere. The CT Scan revealed the right side of his brain is dead.

This means he is currently paralysed on the left side and may not regain the use of his left arm. Although dad is unable to speak now, it’s possible he may gain his ability to communicate since Language skills are on the left side of the brain. The right side of the brain controls attention, memory, reasoning and problem solving skills.

Dad’s stroke has incurred extra medical expenses we did not foresee. We as a family are doing everything we can to meet the costs, but we do need help.

Dad may be admitted to High Care in Edith Duly Nursing Home from Mater Dei. The monthly fee is US$1500 (AU$2200). This does not include Doctor visits, medical aid etc. So, the road ahead of us all is a long one. Please pray all dad’s needs will be met, and his recovery will see him more like himself.

We realise this is an enormous ask in difficult times for everyone. We appreciate your generosity shared from your own needs. Dad and Penny are so grateful for any bread crumbs during their time of crisis.

The Zimbabwe economic collapse caused everyone to loose their pensions, medical aid societies are barely afloat and their assistance is minimal at best. Zimbabwe is a very difficult place to live in as a senior citizen. Our families have been supporting dad for 16 years. He has been blessed we’ve been in a position to meet his needs. We’re grateful for God’s blessings.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for each of you who have blessed dad and penny in their time of need. Thank you from the heart ❤️

Hi, my dad, Magiel Jovner, is a chronic diabetic. Diabetes lowers the amount of blood flow in the feet. Not having enough blood flowing to the legs and feet can make it hard for a sore or an infection to heal. Sometimes, a bad infection never heals. The infection might lead to gangrene.

Magiel has been struggling to heal a wound on his leg for six months, unfortunately he has been diagnosed with gangrene in his toes. Since scans revealed no blood is flowing down his lower leg, it needs to be amputated above the knee. This damage is irreversible. It is imperative Dad have the operation as soon as possible.

Medical expenses for the operation will exceed US$5000. We need help raising the money in a timely manner so Dad can receive the medical assistance he needs before the gangrene spreads. We’d be grateful for your support. Any amount would be helpful.

As you might know, Magiel has had a previous amputation due to the same reasons listed above three years ago. He will be immobile needing permanent hands on care.

Dad and Penny, Micheal, Lee, Liynel and I are grateful for your help in time of dad’s need. Thank you and God bless.
