Lester Public Library, on the shore of Lake Michigan in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, has a rich history as an educational and social gathering spot—connecting people, fostering literacy and lifelong learning, and bringing the magic of reading to generations.
We’ve begun the Magic Carpet Fund to bring the library into the 21st century. But, it's a lot more than new carpet. It’s the high-tech electrical thread running underneath to power and connect devices. It’s mobile shelving and technology to transform reading spaces into gathering spots and program venues. It’s furniture to create the nooks where you curl up with your babies and grandbabies to share a book or simply take in the beauty of the library gardens and our ever-changing lakeshore.
Our monetary and timeline goal: $350,000, and to install the carpet, electrical infrastructure, furniture and shelving in January of 2021.
Our goals:
Let’s be a place for learning, comfort, laughter, fun, music and reading.
Let’s support work by providing individuals the resources to prepare for, advance, and optimize careers and offer spaces to conduct business.
Let’s conquer isolation by:
—offering moms and dads a place to congregate, and give them the tools to be their babies’ first, best and favorite teachers—because early literacy is vital in sustaining an emotionally and intellectually healthy and successful society;
—engaging teens with fun, intellectual and technical learning, and provide a safe place for free exchange of ideas;
—providing men and women of all ages opportunities to explore interests too often tabled.
Let’s be that place where you sip the hot coffee, discuss the headlines, and piece together that jigsaw puzzle with friends.

The Lester Public Library Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established in 1984. Our mission is to support new technologies, programming, development, facilities and collections at the Lester Public Library that would otherwise not be available.
