Maggie's Scooter
Donation protected
This gofundme is aimed at raising funds to help Magalie Joanis get a new electric scooter.
Maggie is a disabled black woman who has been drastically affected by changes in her physical health these past few years.
Her old scooter is damaged beyond repair, has a broken wheel, and shuts down in colder temperatures. Without a scooter, her accessibility needs are much greater, and she has been forced to take alternative modes of transportation, such as taxis and ubers, which she does not currently have funds for. As well, she is at a greater risk of harm from falling. Maggie is on ODSP, but the money that she receives from that is barely enough to cover rent.
The cost of buying a new wheelchair would be around $3000, and the extra money would go towards Maggie buying groceries, medical supplies that aren’t provided by the government, new winter clothes, and furniture, and maybe even a conga, as she is wonderful musician and misses playing at home.
Maggie is a joyful and vibrant woman, and desperately wants to be able to get herself out and about again, and any help would go a long way. God bless everyone, and she hopes that you all stay safe.
